Chinese Beef and Broccoli Stir Fry
Classic beef and broccoli stir fry with savory sauce
Ingredients
Ingredients
Ingredients (sauce)
- 1 lb frank steak sliced very thinly into bit size lengths
- Olive oil
- 1 lb broccoli cut into bite size florets
- 1 bell pepper cut into sliced bite size chunks
- 2tsp sesame seeds (optional)
Sauce
1 tsp ginger grated (or more)
4 cloves garlic minced
0.5 cup hot water
8 tbsp soy sauce
3 tbsp brown sugar
1.5 tbsp corn starch
1 tbsp chili garlic sauce (more or less to taste)
1 tsp black pepper
2 tbsp sesame oil
1 cup uncooked rice (cooked according to package directions)
Instructions
- Combine all stir fry sauce ingredients in a bowl, stir well to dissolve the sugar, and set aside.
- Place broccoli a large skillet over medium heat and add 1 Tbsp oil. Sauté 4-5 minutes, partially covered with lid, stirring or tossing several times. Remove from pan when done and set near.
- Increase heat to high heat and add 1 Tbsp oil. Add beef in a single layer and sauté ~2 minutes per side or just until cooked through.
- Add the sauce into beef, reduce heat to medium/low and simmer 3-4 minutes. It will thicken. Add broccoli and stir to combine. Stir in 1-2 Tbsp water to thin the sauce if desired. Simmer one more minute just enough to reheat the broccoli. Serve over white rice. Add sesame seeds (optional).
